An
Introduction to our philosophy and process
At College Intuition,
our primary goal is to help your child become successful - not just
with college entrance, but with life! A fundamental reason for this
approach is Susan Samson's own educational background - including
a Master's degree in Applied Human Development & Counseling.
We believe
the first important step in preparing for the college entrance process
is to create a real relationship with the student and family. We
want to lay a foundation of mutual respect and trust. To do this,
we ask lots of questions. Our objectives are to identify the student’s
academic interests, individual talents and passions -- and then
to apply these interests “beyond the classroom walls”,
through independent study, internships, community service, summers,
or choices in curriculum.
This is not
a formula - every student is different! We do not evaluate our clients
only by rankings and test scores. Instead, we offer a safe and judgment-free
environment where we focus on each student’s authentic personality.
Given there
are thousands of students in the applicant pool, we help your child
answer the question: what is going to distinguish my application?
By focusing on the individual, we bring clarity to an otherwise
complicated process.
College Intuition strives to make this process both enjoyable and
rewarding.

As both counselors and consultants, we work to:
> Demystify the college selection process by
helping your student gain a greater sense of self-awareness in regards
to individual academic, emotional and social needs.
> Assist
your student in creating a solid academic and extra-curricular profile
that results in greater self-confidence and independent thinking.
> Collaborate with you and the student to find the right college
“fit”.
Empower the student by introducing organizational systems that streamline
the application process, and keep them on track.
> Communicate in an efficient and responsive manner that encourages
dialogue between you, the school counselor and the student.
> When
appropriate, provide access to top specialists with background in
every aspect of the field.
How
early do you start? An initial basic personality assessment
is the first step in the counseling relationship. The process can
begin as early as middle school. Please feel free to review our
website or contact us directly with any further questions about
steps in the process.
We look forward to beginning this journey with you!
