The most important thing I can do is develop a comfortable rapport and relationship with my students. At a time in their young lives when measures and scores predominate, I seek to provide an environment that is “safe” and judgment free.

An initial basic personality assessment administered early on in our meetings, serves to complement a counseling relationship that strives to be rich in self-knowledge and acceptance. Self-awareness is a powerful tool when presented in a way that is constructive and positive. Providing organizational strategies that keep your student on track helps to give them a sense of direction and responsibility; ultimately allowing them ownership of this critical process.

I hold an undergraduate degree in American Studies from George Washington University and earned my graduate degrees at The Teachers College of Columbia University. Earlier in my career I was an Interventional Counselor and Program Coordinator at Mabel Dean Bacon High School and Annex in New York City. I am also a trained ADHD Coach and a member of the American Coaching Association.

I am currently one of nineteen IECA (Independent Educational Consultants Association) members in the state of Florida who has earned full membership within this respected organization. I have attended multiple college counseling workshops and conferences through both the IECA and NACAC (National Association of College Admissions Counselors). I am also a member of HECA (Higher Education Consultants Association). I have distinguished myself within the IECA, having served as an IECA mentor. Additionally, I was chosen to represent the state of Florida on a college admissions panel at the 2007 IECA Fall Conference. As part of my certification, I have personally visited over 150 colleges, universities and transitional programs. Since Fall of 2008, I have toured 39 schools throughout the United States.

My commitment to my own professional growth and my ongoing participation in every aspect of the college counseling field is what I feel best serves my clients and allows me to confidently maintain my standard of excellence.
